Standing Up for Palisades Residents Stated Requests – Rassekh Park

August 11, 2023

Al Calabria is a former PNA Chair, Area Rep and member of the City of Lake Oswego’s Budget Committee. His hard work at “pulling teeth” at the City’s budget committee on behalf of the Palisades Neighborhood yielded remarkable results.  At its June 6, 2023 meeting, the City Council will be approving the biennial budget, and agenda item 2023-06-06 #10.2, resolution 23-21 which includes the background information (see below) provided to City Council members.

For those who may not know the backstory, the City’s proposed budget included a skatepark and a minimal parking area but did not include Phase 2 of Rassekh Park (play field, picnic area & shelter, family play area, maintenance building, full parking area, and remaining infrastructure).  Not only was Phase 2 not included in the budget, it was not even included on the “unfunded capital projects” list which shows future projects out to 2029.  Al fought hard at the budget committee meeting to get Phase 2 listed – it’s now on the “unfunded capital projects” list at $3.5mm.
