Palisades residents can access a wealth of FRS and GMRS radio guidance from the following link provided by the LO Fire Department (see the second to last link).
As David Smith wrote to members of the current CERT class:
“If you are involved with the emergency response team for your neighborhood association, I would encourage you to take a look at the training materials located on our fire department website (second to last link below). We have several training guides that can help you conduct some exercises using the Motorola T600 Family Radio Service radios that are provided in the neighborhood association equipment cache’s. If you aren’t familiar with how to operate those radios, there is even an in-depth video (~1 hour long) that goes through the operation of the radios available on the same web page. For those of you who aren’t familiar with radios, the types of radios available in the community or how they can play a role during a disaster (or even an ice storm), there is an additional video (~1 hour long) that provides a summary of the various capabilities and how they are used.”
