Live in Area 1? This is your opportunity to represent your neighbors and have a voice in what’s happening in Palisades.
Because of its size, the Palisades Neighborhood is divided into 13 geographic areas, with each area represented on the Palisades Neighborhood Association Board. After five years of representing Area 1, Jon Thies is retiring from the Board, and we are looking for an Area 1 neighbor to step into his role.
Area 1 includes neighbors living along the South Shore Boulevard corridor. It is an important part of Palisades—and one facing issues that deserve continued attention and advocacy.
In particular, South Shore Boulevard has become increasingly busy, and vehicle speeds and traffic safety continue to be concerns for neighbors. Having an Area 1 representative at the table helps ensure that the people who live along this corridor have a direct voice in neighborhood discussions and in our conversations with the City.

What Does an Area Representative Do?
You don’t need previous board experience or special expertise. We are looking for a neighbor who cares about Area 1, is interested in what is happening in Palisades, and is willing to bring the questions, concerns, and ideas of Area 1 residents to the Neighborhood Association Board.
Serving as an Area Representative is an opportunity to get to know your neighbors, stay informed about issues affecting our community, and help shape the future of Palisades.
We are grateful to Jon for his six years of service to Area 1 and the Palisades community, and we hope another Area 1 neighbor will raise their hand to continue that representation.
Do you live in Area 1 and want to learn more? We would love to hear from you.
