The Rassekh project received land use approval from the Development Review Commission in July/August of this year. They expect to have a general contractor on board in December and to break ground in late December or early January. In order to minimize the amount of work being done on very wet soil, an arborist will start preliminary tree removal work in November. Skatepark construction is likely to begin in April or May. Currently, the projected completion for the entire park is summer 2023!
Athletic Field:
In August 2022 the City was selected to receive a donation of approximately 98,555 square feet of artificial turf from the City of Portland’s Providence Park Stadium – GO TIMBERS & THORNS! Conditions of the donation included that turf must be picked up from Providence Park when it is removed following the conclusion of the MLS/NWSL seasons in late November 2022; and that it must be professionally installed at the recipient’s cost. The vendor used at Providence Park Stadium is FieldTurf USA. Lake Oswego City council will vote to approve the use of the turf donation on November 1, 2022.
Playground:
After months of outreach to City Council and many community meetings with Parks & Rec., PNA was able to communicate the requests of residents and we went from having just one picnic table, to an entire covered area with multiple tables. The size of the playground was also doubled to 12,000 square feet. Children in our community helped inspire the design (and City Council) with their beautiful playground drawings. Mackenzie design team went through all the drawings to find common themes. Climbing features were at the top of the list. Skatepark:
PNA and the Skatepark Task Force Committee worked closely with California Skateparks to make sure the design is family friendly with something for everyone from beginners to advanced skaters. All wheels are welcome – skateboards, roller skates, bikes and scooters! https://www.ci.oswego.or.us/parksrec/rassekh-skatepark
